ANZ Progress Saver account for those under 18 years
An ANZ Progress Saver account is suitable for those under 18 years of age. With an ANZ Progress Saver account, you simply make one deposit of just $10 or more and make no withdrawals in any month and you’ll earn bonus interest that month! (The month commences on the account opening date)

And if you’re under 18 years, your account will be free of account service fees and transaction fees. (Non-ANZ ATM fees may apply)

Opening an account
If you are a parent or guardian opening an account for a child under 12 years you will need to open the ANZ Progress Saver account in Trust for the child. You may choose to have full electronic access (except EFTPOS).

If you are a customer aged 12 to 17, and can sign a consistent satisfactory signature, the account can be opened in your own name, or the account can be opened as a joint account with your parent or guardian, otherwise, the account must be opened in Trust.

At this age you can have optional electronic access through:

  • ATMs
  • view only ANZ Internet Banking
  • balance enquiries via ANZ Phone Banking
Identification requirements
If you are a parent or guardian who is not an existing ANZ customer, you will be required to bring your own identification documents for the customer identification process plus identification for the child when opening an account;
  • for the child in Trust or
  • with the child as a joint account
Acceptable forms of identification for child.
If you are a customer under 18 years you will be required to bring one of the following forms of identification:
  • birth certificate
  • current signed student photo ID card
  • education institution statement on letterhead with principal's signature
  • citizenship certificate
  • current passport
